Board Games Galore
Gather your friends and family for a night of Monopoly, Scrabble, or Settlers of Catan. Winner takes bragging rights!
No matter what the weather is like, board games are something you can do anytime of year.
And, when the weather's nice, why not move the game outdoors with a nice glass of lemonade?
Biking through Nature
Take your trusty two-wheeler on an adventure through scenic trails, forests, or even the city streets.
As the saying goes, you never forget how to ride a bike.
One of the best things about riding a bike is you're getting exercise while you're taking in the sights.
Astronomy Observation:
Explore the cosmos. Equip yourself with a telescope and unravel the mysteries of distant galaxies.
Both iOS and Android have a wealth of great astronomy apps, so even if you're brand new to the activity, you can just point your phone at the cosmos and learn the stars and constellations in the night sky.
Gourmet Cooking Classes
Learn the art of culinary wizardry! Whip up delectable dishes and impress your taste buds with your newfound skills.
Best of all whether you're single or in a relationship (or even just want to do something with your friends), cooking classes are an affordable way to do something fun.
Interestingly, many community colleges even offer these classes, so they really can be affordable.
Dance Classes
Shake it like nobody's watching! Whether it's salsa, hip-hop, or ballroom, get groovin' and impress your friends on the dance floor.
Editor's Note: After years of making excuses about not doing it, I ended up taking dance classes for years and loved every minute of it.
Despite what you might think, dance classes are NOT for the self-centered snob. They're this cool equalizer of sorts where people from all walks of life some together and have a good time.
Outdoor Movie Night
Set up a cozy outdoor cinema in your backyard or at the park. Grab some popcorn and enjoy a blockbuster under the stars.
Just remember to use the mosquito repellent, and you'll have a great time.
Geocaching
It's like a global treasure hunt! Use GPS coordinates to find hidden caches and leave your mark for fellow adventurers.
You can find geocaching in every major city and all across the world.
Editor's Note: One way to make roadtrips extra fun (for adults and kids alike) is to turn your roadtrip into a geocaching adventure with stops along the way to find your next treasure.
Gardening
"But I don't have a green thumb!" Trust us. We've heard it all.
Fact is, most anyone can become a green thumb extraordinaire! Grow vibrant flowers, tasty veggies, or a jungle of indoor houseplants.
There are few things as tasty and satisfying as vegetables you've grown yourself from seed, watered, and harvested.
Book Clubs
Why not form a literary alliance with fellow bookworms? Or join one in your own neighborhood?
Book clubs are a great way to meet new friends and dive into thought-provoking novels and engage in spirited discussions.
On top of it all, you'll likely get to read—and enjoy—books you might not otherwise pick up.
Local Farmers Markets
No longer the sole domain of the hippies (or hipsters), local farmers markets are a way to get out of the house and wander around exploring new food.
Despite what you might think, most farmers markets have more than just fruit and veggies.
Explore vibrant farmers' markets and savor fresh, organic produce, and get a deal in the process by cutting out the middle man, i.e. your (chain) grocery store.
Plane Spotting / Aviation Enthusiasm
You don't necessarily need to take to the skies or learn to pilot aircraft and soar through the clouds to get involved in plane spotting and to get into aviation as a hobby.
Whether it's vintage warbirds, commercial airlines, gliders, or ultralights, planes are everywhere, and enjoying their spectacle and glamor is something you can do almost anywhere around the globe.
Check airports in your area for airshows, and you'll be hooked instantly.
